Metropolitan Methodios Visits the White House for Greek Independence Day Celebration
On the occasion of the Annual Greek Independence Day Celebration in the White House on March 9, His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios attended the festivities which marked the 189th Anniversary of Greek Independence and included a dinner at the historic Blair House, hosted by the Chief of protocol of the United States Ambassador Capricia Penavic Marshall. At the conclusion of the program in the White House, Metropolitan Methodios greeted the President and First Lady Michelle Obama, the only First Lady to have ever attended the White House Celebration for Greek Independence Day. Metropolitan Methodios also met the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, George Papandreou whose official visit to Washington coincided with the Greek Independence Day celebrations.
