VISITORS ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO THE PHILOXENIA HOUSE RESIDENTS

“The Philoxenia House is like a home in a Greek village; it is open all the time and visitors come and go,” said a resident shortly after she arrived with her teenage son.  It is an accurate description of this unique Home of Hope established by Metropolitan Methodios in 1986, which offers hospitality to those who come to Boston for medical treatment.  Whether they stay for a few days, or a few weeks or months, the guests develop a bond with the Greek Orthodox Community of New England which continues to strengthen them long after they return to their homes.

Clergy and laity--- individuals, groups of Philoptochos Women, Church School and Greek School students, GOYAns, Senior Citizens, and various organizations--- those who visit with the residents offer a ministry which enhances this outreach program of the Metropolis.  Over a cup of coffee and pastries, or while enjoying a summer cookout, the visitors and the resident blend into a unique Orthodox Family.
