Panos Coufos Appointed Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries and Director of the Metropolis of Boston Camp (MBC)
Brookline, MA: His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios announces the appointment of Panagiotis (Panos) Coufos as Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries as well as Director of the Metropolis of Boston Camp (MBC) beginning today, September 1, 2020.

A native of Salem, New Hampshire, Pano is the son of Stephan and Kathy Coufos and the brother of Chrisanthe. He attended the Saints Constantine and Helen Church in Andover, MA and the Hellenic American Academy in Lowell, MA. Throughout his youth, he was actively involved in the youth and liturgical ministries of his parish including JOY, GOYA, altar service, and the chanters’ stand. He attended the Metropolis of Boston Camp beginning at age 8, and participated in all the ministries of the Metropolis of Boston such as the Youth Basketball League and the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival.

Upon graduating high school, Pano enrolled in Northeastern University’s Industrial Engineering program where he graduated with honors. Through the university’s ‘experiential learning’ component, he gained valuable experience through his work at Parker Aerospace, Raytheon, and GE Power & Water. While at Northeastern, Pano helped revive the Orthodox Christian Fellowship and Orthodoxy on Tap ministries in the Greater Boston area and enthusiastically participated in the Metropolis of Boston Camp’s staff ministry.

Upon graduating from Northeastern University, Pano continued his studies as a seminarian at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology where he served as a Presidential Ambassador and Resident Director of the Polemanakos Dormitory. Throughout his years at Holy Cross, he served as Program Director of the Metropolis of Boston Camp, organizer of the Metropolis’s Orthodox Christian Fellowship efforts, and coordinator of Boston’s Orthodoxy on Tap. Additionally, he attended many conferences on youth and camping ministry. He represented the Metropolis of Boston at the first conference on camp ministry of the Church of Greece.

Additionally, he served at the St. Nectarios parish in Roslindale for two years where as Pastoral Assistant, he was instrumental in the youth, liturgical, administrative, and communication ministries of the parish.

A son of our camping and youth ministries, Pano has earned the love and respect of the entire MBC family.  He comes to this position of leadership with the full support of our clergy and parish lay leaders who have come to know him over the years though his active participation in our Metropolis Ministries. Our MBC staff and campers will especially welcome the appointment of Panos Coufos as the new Camp Director with much joy and excitement. We pray that the Lord will grant him many years of faithful and fruitful diakonia in the Church!
