Διάλογος Καθολικών - Ορθοδόξων

Η Επιτροπή Διαλόγου Καθολικών - Ορθοδόξων Βορείου Αμερικής, συνήλθε στο Τορόντο γιά ένα τριήμερο. Την Παρασκευή 25 Οκτωβρίου, άπαντα τα μέλη φιλοξενήθηκαν σε γεύμα από τον Μητροπολίτη Σωτήριο στην Ιερά μας Μητρόπολη. Στο γεύμα επίσης, παρεκάθησαν, ο Kαρδινάλιος Τορόντο Thomas Collins, ο Μητροπολίτης Σωτήριος, δύο φοιτητές και ένας καθηγητής από την Ρωμαιοκαθολική Θεολογική Σχολή του Αγίου Αυγουστίνου και δύο φοιτητές και ένας καθηγητής από την Ορθόδοξη Θεολογική Ακαδημία Τορόντο. Μετά το γεύμα, ενώπιον όλων, έγινε διάλογος μεταξύ των φοιτητών και καθηγητών των δύο Θεολογικών Σχολών. Οι συνεδριάσεις συνεχίσθηκαν στην Ιερά μας Μητρόπολη μέχρι τις 5:00 μ.μ. Τους συνέδρους, καλωσόρισαν και προσεφώνησαν ο Μητροπολίτης Σωτήριος και ο Kαρδινάλιος Collins.

NORTH AMERICAN ORTHODOX-CATHOLIC DIALOGUE IN TORONTO 

The North American Orthodox-Catholic Theological Consultation met in Toronto for their Annual Meeting from October 24- 26^th.  Present were twenty-five participants from both Churches from both Canada and the United States.  This Consultation meets in Canada every five years, and they were welcomed to Canada by their Eminences, Metropolitan Archbishop Sotirios of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis as well as Cardinal Thomas Collins of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto, who jointly hosted a Luncheon at the Headquarters of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto on October 25^th.  Their Eminences welcomed the two Co-Chairs of this Consultation, His Eminence Archbishop Joseph W. Tobin of Indianapolis, head of the Catholic Delegation and  His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of Boston, head of the Orthodox Delegation.  After the wonderful meal prepared by the Metropolis kitchen Staff, all the members met in session in the Library of the Metropolis, where a Panel Discussion was held between two Seminarians and two Faculty Members of both the Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy and St. Augustine’s Catholic Seminary in Toronto on the Discussion Paper: “Steps Towards a Reunited Church:  A Sketch of an Orthodox-Catholic Vision for the Future”.  This was the first time that such a Panel Discussion was held in the 50 year history of the Consultation, which is the oldest continuous Dialogue in existence between the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.  The Consultation used the facilities of the Metropolis for their Dialogue for the rest of the afternoon.
