St. George Cathedral (Springfield) Parishioners Welcomed Metropolitan Methodios on Sunday of the Holy Cross

His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios visited the St. George Cathedral in Springfield, MA on the Sunday of the Holy Cross.  He presided at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy assisted by the Chancellor of the Metropolis, Rev. Theodore J. Barbas, the Dean of the Cathedral, the Rev Christopher Stamas, the Rev. Christopher Constantinides, Pastor of the Holy Trinity Church in Dallas, TX, who was visiting the area, and Deacon Evagoras Constantinides, a senior at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.  During the sermon, Metropolitan Methodios addressed the young people of the Parish.  He also tonsured 14 Altar Boys, and two adult readers---Vasilios William Ralph and Dionysios Liberopoulos.  Also honored was the Psalti of the Community, Emilios Mavroudhis who was presented with a new raso by Fr. Stamas.  Following the Liturgy, Metropolitan Methodios enjoyed talking with the faithful during a lucheon in the Community Center which was served by the young people.  Philoptochos President Susan Alvanos presented Metropolitan Methodios a check for the Retreat House at the St. Methodios Faith & Heritage Center in Contoocook, NH.

Long-time Psalti of the St. George Cathedral, Emilios Mavroudhis was honored last Sunday, following the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.  Fr. Christopher Stamas presented Mr. Mavroudhis with a new raso.  Metropolitan Methodios was assisted by, back row, left, Fr. Christopher Constantinides, Fr. Theodore Barbas; front row, left, Fr. Christopher Stamas and Deacon Evagoras Constantinides.

 

Philoptochos President Susan Alvanos, expressing support for the Retreat House at theSt. Methodios Faith & Heritage Center, presented Metropolitan Methodios a check for this magnificent facility which is already hosting jam-packed programs.
