Everyone enjoyed the 2010 GOYA Winter Camp

A total of 130 campers and 50 staff members participated at the 2010 GOYA Winter Camp at the Saint Methodios Faith & Heritage Center in Contoocook, NH the weekend of February 12 through 15.  His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios presided at the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, February 14 in the Chapel of Saint George which was filled with enthusiastic campers eager to embark on a program of activities in the winter wonderland setting of the Faith & Heritage Center and surrounding areas.  During his visit at the camp, Metropolitan Methodios had the opportunity to meet and dialogue with the staff and campers.  Visiting Clergy also had the opportunity to see the program in action, contributing to a balance of fun, fellowship, worship, and witness of our Greek Orthodox Faith and culture.

Activities included hiking, skiing, snowboarding, tubing, Orthodox Life sessions and many other interesting opportunities to interact with campers.  While at the ski mountain, an observer not association with the camp program commented on how “incredible it is to see those older kids helping out those younger kinds and those younger kids helping out each other.  I’ve never seen anything like it.”  What a testimony to the well trained staff members, comprised mostly of college-aged young adults, and of our campers, aged 12 through 18, who were simply living out their Orthodox Faith.

The directors, staff, campers and parents are indeed grateful to Metropolitan Methodios for his support of this and all ministries which take place at the Saint Methodios Faith and Heritage Center and throughout the Metropolis.
